Finite Population Mixed Models for Pretest-Posttest Designs with Response Errors

چکیده
We consider a finite population mixed model that accommodates response errors and show how to obtain optimal estimators of the parameters in pretest-posttest context. illustrate method with estimation difference gain between two interventions simulation study compare empirical version proposed estimator (obtained by replacing variance components estimates) obtained via covariance analysis usually employed such settings. The results indicate many instances, has smaller mean squared error than from standard model.

Pretest-posttest designs and measurement of change.
The article examines issues involved in comparing groups and measuring change with pretest and posttest data. Different pretest-posttest designs are presented in a manner that can help rehabilitation professionals to better understand and determine effects resulting from selected interventions. The reliability of gain scores in pretest-posttest measurement is also discussed in the context of re...
متن کاملResponse Shift Bias:a Problem in Evaluating Leadership Development with Self-report Pretest-posttest Measures
This study sought to investigate the effects of response shzft bias on outcomes using a self-report measure in a leadership development course. While students in this study rated themselves as having a “high " level of leadership skill at the end of the course, significant differences were found between their self-report ratings using the pretest/posttest and the then/posttest approach. The deg...
متن کاملKnowledge of Acne among Medical Students: Pretest and Posttest Assessment
Background. Acne vulgaris is a disorder of sebaceous glands mainly affecting the adolescent population. There are some misconceptions about acne not only in the general population but also among the medical students. Methods. Second year medical undergraduate students attending dermatology postings for the first time were included in the study. A questionnaire (in yes or no answer format) with ...
متن کاملOptimal designs for random effect models with correlated errors with applications in population pharmacokinetics
We consider the problem of constructing optimal designs for population pharmacokinetics which use random effect models. It is common practice in the design of experiments in such studies to assume uncorrelated errors for each subject. In the present paper a new approach is introduced to determine efficient designs for nonlinear least squares estimation which addresses the problem of correlation...
متن کاملSemiparametric estimation of treatment effect in a pretest-posttest study.
Inference on treatment effects in a pretest-posttest study is a routine objective in medicine, public health, and other fields. A number of approaches have been advocated. We take a semiparametric perspective, making no assumptions about the distributions of baseline and posttest responses. By representing the situation in terms of counterfactual random variables, we exploit recent developments...
